With the blinds at 4,000/8,000, Jim Plate opened UTG for 32,000, and watched as the action would fold all the way around to chip leader Steve Gill in the big blind. Gill took a few moments before declaring himself all-in (having Plate well covered). Plate immediately made the call, and the hands would be tabled:
Gill: 8 8 Plate: A A
Flop: 10 K K
Turn: J
River: 5
Plate's total count was 131,000, and the chip leader would be knocked down by more than half, while Jim plate would take a grip on the chip lead with just over 268,000.
