$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Joe Rollero (White House, NJ)
$764

Joe started out with the best hand holding A-Q but was run-down by chip-leader Stephen Moy who had A-10 and smashed two tens on the flop.

Another Player claimed to have folded A-10 pre making the hand that much more statistically dramatic.

We were stuck on ten players for a couple levels.  It's rare to see a flop and even rarer to make it to show-down.

Congrats to Joe for his 10th Place finish earning $764.

Event 18: In The Money

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Scott Levy Busts Bubble

Thanks to Scott Levy (Lawenceville, NJ) the remaining 18 players are re-drawing for new seats at the final two tables.  Seems like only yesterday Scott was this close to being the bubble himself.

During hand for hand, Opponent jammed his last 63,500 on the button sending Scott Levy into a long tank session from the big-blind with 8000 already in.  With other players standing around the table, finally Scott called.

Scott A♠ J♠   vs. Opponent's 7 7

Scott picks up a spade draw on the flop and still has two over cards.

Sure enough he hits his flush on the river causing the field to celebrate.

Board: Q♠ 9♠ 5 Q♣ 4

Scott picks up another $100 bounty chip and is one step closer to the $11,466 first place prize.

Event 18: We Three Kings

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Scott Levy (Lawenceville, NJ) can't believe his good fortune.  He was all-in with K-10 on-the-bubble, and ran into Josh Supsak's A-A.

Scott was almost certain the dream was over, until he witnessed a flop from heaven.

Final board of: K-K-4-J-9 caused Scott to say, "That is something to blog about" and Josh Supsak to lament how his A-A always seem to get cracked at key moments in tournaments.

Crazy hand that doubles up Scott and just might propel him into the money.

Hand for hand continues as 19 of our original 197 Players remain.

Event 18: Win Some, Lose Some

Mike Hahn (Indianapolis, IN) plays two hands back-to-back.  He loses one then wins the other, sending Larry Wolf (Annapolis, MD) to the rail.

In the first hand Mike got involved in a three-way all-in.  Mike's 10-10 vs. K-K vs. Joe Gabriszeski's short stack A-6.

Board ran out 4-2-5-J-Q.  "That was fun anyhow" said Joe as headed for the exits.

The very next hand, Larry Wolf was telling me how he was all-in like four times since dinner break.  Sure enough, Larry hit a 3 on the flop and shipped all-in vs. Mike Hahn.

Wolf way behind as Hahn already flopped a set of eights.  Wolf K-3 vs. Hahn 8-8.

Board: J-8-3-K-7

Larry turned two pair but a miracle King didn't come.  Wolf goes out in 22nd place for no money while Mike zooms up to 320,000.

Before dinner Stephen found a sweet double-up flush with Q-9, thrusting him into that all important chip leader spot.

"I arrived at Borgata yesterday and am hoping to get into the finals" mentioned Moy.

All of our 26 Players have returned from dinner break and are looking to make the green stuff.

Top 18 are guaranteed $573.

The $100 bounty chip is too tempting for Wolf who makes the crying call.

Leban: K Q (pair of queens)

Dan Wach, Final Table Chip Leader

Dan Wach (Boonton, NJ) is looking to go wire to wire at the Borgata Summer Poker Open.  After finishing Day 1A as chip leader, he was the big stack after Day 2 and is still on top heading the final table.

"I've been really focused and playing well," says Wach, who has 1.89 million and is looking for his second Borgata trophy.  "I'm happy where I am, but there's still work to do."

Wach is just ahead of Chalie Hook (Philadelphia, PA) who is at 1.7 million and Joe "The Jeweler" Gola (Philadelphia, PA) with 1.4 million. Wach and Hook began the day 1-2 and maintained their positions with 10 players remaining.

Day 3 began with 45 players looking for a piece of the $740,000 total buy-in, but only 27 made the money.  After a nearly two hours of hand-for-hand play, TJ Shulman (Boynton Beach, FL) was the unfortunate bubble boy as he busted in 28th place.

That sent the remaining players into the money for a min cash of $6,370.

Borgata regulars who cashed included Mike Dentale (25th), John Dibella (23rd), DJ Whorley (20th) Maruti Yarlapati (17th), Chris Farley (16th), Nick Salimbene (14th) and Frank Reina (12th).

After returning from dinner break it only takes one hour to knockout four players, including Michael Schoultz (Arlington, VA), whose elimination by Gola set the final table.

The returning short stacks are Grandpay "Jay" Zimmet (Manalapan, NJ) and Ken Silberstein (Edison, NJ) who are just shy of 400k, but still have 40 big blinds.

"My success at Borgata has come in mixed games," said Zimmet who is a two-time Borgata trophy winner, one in PLO, the other in 7 card stud.  "I've played really good poker for three days. I'm 70-years-old, if I win I maybe the oldest (Borgata) winner ever. We'll see."

Final Table action resumes noon Thursday as they play for the $198,186 top prize and Borgata trophy.

    Event 17 Recap

    $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Congratulations to Ben Butler (Williamsport, PA) who just made the big leagues by taking down event 17 of the 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open and $29,861 after defeating Billy Vogel (Stockport, NY) heads up.  Butler's winning hand was 6-9 off-suit.  He dedicates his largest Borgata cash to his wife Emily and three kids, Levi, Judah, & Eden.  What a great (late) Father's Day Present for Ben and the Butler family.

"The key hand I remember came early on when my nut flush held up against my opponent's top set for 150,000" said Ben.  "With those chips, I gradually progressed and continued to move up".

As the Championship event played down to their final table, our deepstackers battled it out, all vying for a piece of their $128,200 prize-pool-pie.

The tournament kicked off at 11am with 641 Borgata ballers taking to the felt.  Many familiar faces bought in to the $230 no limit hold'em event and each entrant received 25,000 in starting chips.  Heavy hitters like Howard Wolper, Don Brown, Josh Supsak, Gloria LoRusso, Tiffany Williamson, Gregg Miller, and Larry Wolf mixed it up in the Borgata poker room.

Big stacks were colliding like 1950's movie monsters.  The biggest blow-up came when Antonio Cuio knocked out Bart Dowling to earn 1,600,000, only to lose it all in two key hands moments later.

Currently holding first place in the Borgata Tournament Leaderboard, Mike Hahn - who won event 16 a day earlier - tried to pad his lead in event 17, but failed to be one of the 63 to made the money.

Once again, kudos to our big winner Ben Butler who captured all 16,025,000 chips, gets the 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open event 17 trophy, a framed print from Image Masters, and $29,861.

"After two 3rd place Borgata finishes, it feels great to finally get 1st!" said Ben after his big win.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!  Safe travels back to Williamsport and we'll see you next time as you try to repeat.

    Final Table:
Position - Name - City - Amount Won
    1. Ben Butler (Williamsport, PA) - $29,861
    2. Billy Vogel (Stockport, NY) - $16,788
    3. Anthony Macchia (Garnet Valley, PA) - $10,570
    4. Benjamin Nissim (Brooklyn, NY) - $8,580
    5. Pasquale Destefano (Brooklyn, NY) - $6,839
    6. Charles Welsh (Bensalem, PA) - $5,658
    7. Billy Hall (Hoboken, NJ) - $4,539
    8. Edouard Petrouski (Staten Island, NY) - $3,420
    9. David Hurwitz (W. Berlin, NJ) - $2,363
    10. Antonino Schiro - $1,617

    Ben Butler Wins Event 17

It's over.  After 17 hours of Borgata Poker, Ben Butler (Williamsport, PA) snatches victory away from Billy Vogel with 6-9 off-suit.  Like a poker assassin, the final six players were rubbed out one after the other leaving Ben Butler the last man standing with all the chips.

Ben gives big thanks to his wife Emily and says hi to his 5 year old Levi, 3 year old Judah, and 1 year old Eden.  Emily made it possible for Ben to have the time to travel and play in today's tournament.

The family man and poker fan previously took 3rd Place twice during Borgata Open Events, but the third time was a charm to the tune of $29,861.  Congratulations!

Event 17: The Butler Did It

    $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

    Ben Butler - 1,200,000

There's one thing in poker everyone can agree is truly awesome.  You look down at pocket Aces and your Opponent decides to ship all-in before you with a lesser hand.  The decision is already made for you and you're a huge heads-up favorite.

That's what happened to Ben Butler (Williamsport, PA).  Ben's A-A just held up vs. Opponent's A-8 on a board of Q-3-4-A-5.

With that 350,000 gift, Ben has build his stack up to 1.2 million.

    Event 17: New Chipleader

    $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Sometimes as quickly as dreams are made, they are dashed.  In two hands, Antonio Cuin (New York, NY) lost the tournament chip lead and was eliminated.

First, Pasquale Destefano (Brooklyn, NY) cracked Cuin's Kings with A-9 suited.  Ace hit the flop.

Next, Edouard Petrovski (Staten Island, NY) finished him off after flopping trip sevens.  Cuin held Ace high and bluffed the turn all-in and was drawing dead.

Petrovski has the lead with three tables to go.  The chips are definitely flying at the 2013 Borgata Poker Open.

    24 Players remain.

    16,025,000 total chips in play.

    Average chip stack - 667,708.

    Event 17: Antoni-Oh-Yeah

    $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Now that's what I'm talking about.  The biggest hand of the tournament so far crowns Antonio Cuin (New York, NY) as the new chip leader.

The two monster stacks at the table (and in the tournament) collided, sending Bart "The Grind" Dowling out the door.  What a stunner.

The hand started innocently enough with Bart raising 75,000 and Antonio calling.

    Flop fell A 6 A♠.

Bart lead out for 200,000 and Antonio jammed all of his remaining 775,000.  Bart called.

    Bart A♣ Q♣ vs. Antonio 6♣ 6♠.

"Please no queen" shouted Antonio as Bart stood up in disbelief.

    Turn 3♠.  River J♣.

Cuin stacks up to 1,650,000 and says, "What's up to everybody in the Gorilla Clan".

After flopping a full house and having it hold up, a relieved Antonio said, "I needed that...that was a monster".  Indeed!

Championship: Day 3 Recap / Final Table

$2500 + $200 Championship Deep Stack Double Play NLH
