Alida On Fire
Alida Veliu (Wyckoff, NJ) always seems to have chips and this event is no different. After knocking out Kim Edmonds (Toms River, NJ) and another player, Veliu has the chip lead with 70k.
"It was a good call," says one player who watched Veliu pick up Edmonds' last 15k, "especially how the hand played out."
Edmonds moved all in on a Jack high flop and, after going in the tank, Veliu called with pocket 9s, ahead of Edmonds' pocket 3s.
A few hands later Veliu knocks out a short stack after going runner-runner flush.
Playing well and running well is what has help Veliu win three ladies tournaments in her career, including in the 2009 Borgata Winter Poker Open.
Veliu has three Borgata final tables, including a second and fourth place finishes.
Level 9 (500/1k/100 ante) continues, the last level before the color-up break.
