Event 6: Veliu Cracks Kings Again

$260 + $40 Ladies No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Alida Veliu (Wycoff, NJ) continues to steam roll the ladies event which is down to two tables.

Veliu opens the betting to 4k, Mimi Castaldi (Washington, D.C.) makes it 10k, a third player moves all in for less and Veliu calls.

Veliu checks dark and after a 9 7 4 flop, Castaldi moves all in for 30k and Veliu snap calls.

Veliu: 4 4
Castaldi: KK
Player 3: xx

Veliu hits a set of 4s and ends up with a full house to take out both players.

"I guess I should've gone all in preflop," says Castaldi, who finished 9th place in the 2011 Borgata Winter Poker Open Ladies Event. "But I wanted to see if an ace came out."

Veliu extends her chip lead to 135k and it's the second time today she's cracked Kings; earlier she hit a set of queens against KK.

Meanwhile Castaldi leaves in good spirits.

"To me the challenge is playing against the woman," she says, "because they assume they know what you're doing. Men always underestimate you and it's a little easier."

Castaldi plans on coming back for Tuesday's Deepest Stack tournament that features 50k starting stacks.
