Event 18: 5th Place - Mayzel

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Genady Mayzel (Brooklyn, NY)
$2,293

Genady Mayzel loses a race for his tournament life to Scott Levy whose been red hot lately.

Genady ships his last 89,000 with 6-6 and is called by Scott in the small blind with 9-10 of clubs.

Scott loves the flop as he hits his ten and picks up two clubs.

Mayzel bricks the turn and river sending him to the rail.

A good effort today from Genady who pockets $2,293.

Championship: 1st Place - Hook

$2500 + $200 Championship Deep Stack Double Play NLH

Chalie Hook (Philadelphia, PA)
 $198,186

Blinds 25k/50k/5k ante

On a flop of Q♣ 2♠ 10♠, Chalie Hook bets 200k, Mike Lydon moves all in for 700k total and Hook calls.

Hook: A 10(middle pair)
Lydon: J♠ 5♠ (flush draw)

Turn: 7 (no change)

River: K

Hook dodges a spade on the river and wins the Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship Event.

"It feels good to get a live title," says Hook who earns $198,186, "this is my largest score, so I'm really happy."

This is Hook's second career Borgata trophy, joining his heads up title in June 2009.  Before Black Friday he specialized in short-handed online games, but is no slouch in live play.

He now has more than $500,000 career live earnings, more than half of it ($336,000) here at Borgata, including a runner-up and third place finish to along with two wins.

Championship: 2nd Place - Lydon

$2500 + $200 Championship Deep Stack Double Play NLH

Mike Lydon (Woodside, NY)
$116,787

After starting heads up play even in chips, Mike Lydon eventually wears down against Chalie Hook.

On the final hand, Lydon moves all in for his last 700k with a flush draw against middle pair, but bricks the turn and river.

"I can't be too upset," says Lydon who finishes in second place for $116,787. "I went as far as I could go. I played great for three or four days and was maybe outplayed in the end."

Lydon is a Borgata regular and won a trophy here in the November, 2011.  All 10 of his career live cashes have come at Borgata and this payday eclipses the previous nine combined by $5,000.

Event 18: 6th Place - Citrenbaum

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Ron Citrenbaum (Brigantine, NJ)
$1,911

"You finally got me" were the last words from Ron Citrenbaum at the final table.  He shipped his short stack in pre-flop and got a call from Scott Levy.

Ron's K 9 vs. Scott's A Q♣

Ron picked up some hope after a King hit the flop, but was worried about Scott's diamond draw.

The turn spelled disaster for Citrenbaum as Scott Levy completed the nut flush.

Board: 10♣ 3 K 2 6

Ron gets a rare $100 knock-out chip at this final table.  Rare because it didn't go to Stephen Moy.

Congrats to Ron Citrenbaum who adds $1,911 to his Borgata bank.

Event 18: 7th Place - Ondis

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Victoria Ondis (Manasquan, NJ)
$1,529

Victoria is one of BorgataPokerBlog's biggest fans as she reads every post.  Of course, we thank her.
She played great but found herself card dead at the final table.  After dwindling down to 100,000 she took a shot with 10-4.

Big blind Scott Levy thought about folding, wanted to fold, but finally called.  He tabled Q-4.

Dry board for Victoria who grabs $1,529 for a fun-filled day of Texas hold-em.

Board: 3-2-6-K-7

The hand cripples Lydon to 800k while Hook is up to 8 million.

Players are back from break where monster blinds face them.

Event 18: 8th Place - Nguyen

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Chau Nguyen (Harrisburg, PA)
$1,147

Stephen Roy is on fire.  I could almost copy and paste Stephen's last knock out as once again the chip leader hits three tens on the flop.  This time a set.

Chau Nguyen regrets not open shoving pre with his A-Q.  Instead he hit top pair on the flop while Roy hit a set holding A-10.

Board: Q-10-5-3-2

The table couldn't believe Stephen's good fortune.

Nguyen had 5 bounty chips and takes home $1,147 for 8th Place.

"That was cold blooded" said Chau's friend from the rail.

Event 18: 9th Place - Stover

$200 + $30 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Victor Stover (Hummelstown, PA)
$860

Victor Stover gets sucked into the human vacuum known as Stephen Roy.  Roy strikes again, this time spiking an ace when needed.

Stover got it in good holding 9-9 but couldn't rid Roy from the hand holding A-Q.

Stover hits the rail after Roy rocks an ace.

Victor takes home $860 for his 9th Place finish from Event 18 at the 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open.

Joe Rollero (White House, NJ)
$764

Joe started out with the best hand holding A-Q but was run-down by chip-leader Stephen Moy who had A-10 and smashed two tens on the flop.

Another Player claimed to have folded A-10 pre making the hand that much more statistically dramatic.

We were stuck on ten players for a couple levels.  It's rare to see a flop and even rarer to make it to show-down.

Congrats to Joe for his 10th Place finish earning $764.

Hook's pair of Queens hold and Wach finishes in 3rd place.
