Event 3 Recap
$500 + $60 Big Stack NLH (Re-Entry)
Mike Hahn's pocket 5s rivered a set to crack pocket Kings and take 1st place, earning $36,264. Hahn held the chip lead for most of the final table, but the lead changed several times as play got short-handed.
Payam Eftekhar Jahromi took the bad beat in stride, happy with his second place finish and $21,367. The PhD student was down to only 2 big blinds on day one during level 5 (150/300/25 ante) but tripled up twice in a row to begin a comeback that got him all the way to heads-up.
Third place went to Philip Rinaldi, along with $12,302. This was Rinaldi's second final table and second cash of the Summer Open series.
The only woman to cash in this event was Borgata regular Christine Brewer (Port Monmouth, NJ). She made it to day two and just missed the final table, busting in 11th place for $1,683.
267 entries in this event generated total buy-ins of $133,500. The final 27 players earned a piece of the prize pool. The bubble burst without fanfare near the end of day one when two players were eliminated on the same hand, propelling the final 27 into the money. Play continued until only 20 were left and they bagged their chips for the night.
Mike Hahn jumped out to an early lead on day one and quietly built his stack over the 15 hours of play. At the end of day one, he had more than double the chips of the second place player. "I was getting a lot of cards" Hahn said. "I had Aces like four times".
The 27-year-old professional poker player has only been pro for 2-3 years, but has amassed about a quarter-million dollars in tournament earnings. After taking a day off to go to the beach, He'll be back at Borgata for another event. "They have good structures," he said.
In addition to the prize money and shiny Borgata Summer Poker Open trophy, Hahn will also receive a 16x20 framed photo of himself, taken by professional photographer Eric Harkins of Image Masters (IMPDI).

Now that the rush of bustouts is slowing down, it's time to get down to the players that still remain. Mark Bohn (Virginia) is the chip leader with 24 players remaining, holding about 930,000.
Daniel Orgil (Staten Island, NY) won a monstrous pot as we walked by his table, as the action was on the flop: 4♥ 6♥ 7♥. There was already over 500,000 in the pot, and the action was to Daniel to either call or fold to his opponent's 53,000 all-in. He clearly was going to make the call with all that was in the pot, but didn't look happy about it, as he flipped over pocket eights with no hearts. He pumped is fist in elation though when he saw that his opponent has Q 7 (pair of sevens, also with no hearts). After the 5 hit the turn, he had his opponent drawing dead to a chop. The river bricked and Orgil would take down the pot worth over 600,000.

He held the lead almost all day on day one, surrendering it very briefly late in the day. Day two started out the same way, but as they got short-handed, the lead changed hands several times.
Mike's taking tomorrow off to go to the beach, but will be back on Monday to play day 1B of event 5 (Deep Stack Double Play $350 NLH $100,000 Guarantee). The 27-year-old has been playing professionally for 2-3 years and it shows. He's got more than $250k in tournament earnings.

We are on the money bubble!!!! With the blinds at 5,000/10,000/1,000, Player X raised to 40,000 from the small blind after the table had folded to him. Daniel Orgil (Staten Island, NY) called from the big blind and they saw a flop of Q Q 9. After a 3 on the turn, Player X checked, and Daniel announced himself all-in. Player X snapped, and tabled his A A before you could blink. Daniel tabled Q 9 to show him the bad news, and with that elimination there are 55 players remaining. After the next bustout, everyone will be fighting for their share of the prize pool.

With the amount of players in today's event, the field was scattered among the room. There is currently one "straggler" table amongst the bunch, back by the high limit area. That would mean that less than 80 players now remain, and we are close to the field being lumped in the same area.

The blinds have just increased as Level 17 begins, but Sean Hu (New York, NY) still has close to 90 big blinds at the 3,000/6,000/500 limits. Hu is the overwhelming chip leader, with only a handful of players even over 200,000. Sean has over 500,000 at the moment, and is repeating something we saw in the recent Borgata Spring Poker Open. Hu won Event 6 ($500 + 60 + 100 Big Stack Black Chip Bounty), collecting over $33,000.
Sean was never all-in and at risk during that event, collecting 15 bounties to add to his prize money. It doesn't look like he'll be at risk for a while now, as he's basically on cruise control.
