Start of Day 2 chip leader Dan Wach (Boonton, NJ) had a slow start, but has turned up the pressure.

On a board of K♥ 10♠ 5♥, Michael Lavoie (Wolcott, CT) bets 8k, Wach makes it 22k, Lavoie takes it to 73k and Wach quickly moves all in.

Lavoie goes in the tank and eventually folds leaving himself with an above average stack of 160k.

Wach is once again the chip leader with 386k.

Michael found himself dwindled down to 45,000 and decided to swing for the fences with 9-10.  Corri Pranevich called Michael's all-in holding A-3.

McQuaid's 9-10 did not improve on a board of Q-5-8-6-Q

Michael played Day 1A in the 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship but got knocked out.  When he's not playing poker he works in DC as an athletic director.

Out in 9th Place moments before Michael was Don Lotano (Matawan, NJ) whose J-8 lost to John Liberto's 9-9.  Don earned $1,199 for his 9th Place finish.

 Yehuda Balin raised with wired Jacks, but Kevin Lutz woke up to A-K in the big blind.  Kevin jammed and Yehuda called, at risk.

"Let me win this hand, let me win this hand" exclaimed Balin who survived the flop of 6-Q-10.

But his tournament ended when a King hit the turn followed by a 7 on the river.

"Why did that King have to hit?" Balin asked the Poker Gods.

Still a good score for Yehuda who got majorly sucked out on during Event 1.  The commercial real estate broker takes home $1,066 for his work today.

Ken Silberstein (Edison, NJ) limps from the SB, Brandon Hall (Hockessin, DE) raises to 7k from the BB. Silberstein makes it 17k, Hall moves all in for 50k and Silberstein calls.

Silberstein is now at 300k after Hall gets no help from the board.

Orson Young (Oceanport, NJ) is also up to 300k after getting 30k in a knockout.

A few minutes after Silberstein's hand, Chalie Hook (Philadelphia, PA), who also has 300k+, is moved into the empty seat to balance tables.

"I should've let him live," says Silberstein, "now I have a threatening stack to my left," as Hook and Silberstein are now side-by-side.

Well, he didn't bubble the tournament but he did bubble the final table.

Brian Kruyd has been cursed by QQ all day.  He shipped his last 80,000 with you guessed it, Q-Q and was rundown by Kevin Lutz' A-K.

Board ran out 3-7-A-8-5 sending Kruyd out in 11th Place.

Brian earns $1,066 for his efforts today.  And don't forget he did enjoy a Royal Flush earlier.

Two players with Philadephia ties are the chip leaders on dinner break.

It felt like our 2013 Borgata Summer Poker Open players were fighting it out in overtime or extra-innings as dinner break was put on hold until bubble business was attended to.

Mike Hahn (Indianappolis, IN) takes care of business after waking up to pocket rockets in the cut-off seat.  Mike's A-A held up against opponent's A-Q off-suit.  Both players were all-in pre-flop.

With that knock-out, Hahn and all 18 players have made the money and can now go to dinner.

Mike is now among the chip-leaders, looking to take this down and add to his Event #3 first place win for $36,264.  Book-end trophies would be oh so sweet!

When the field returns at 8:43pm, they will re-draw the final two tables and compete for the $15,989 first place prize which will be awarded tonight.

Event 16: Kruyd Finds Royal Flush

Brian Kruyd made it clear he did not want to make the blog again as the bubble boy, so he found another way.  How about hitting a royal flush?  That certainly got our attention and a photo.

During hand-for-hand, Kruyd took a hit after taking a shot with K-J vs. opponent's A-K.  His K-J failed to improve, sending Brian's stack down to 46,000.

A few hands later he looked down at A♠ Q♠.  His opponent had him covered and held A♦ J♥.

Both gentlemen liked the flop of 10♠ J♦ Q♦.

Kruyd would need runner runner for the royal and sure enough that's what was dealt.

Brian doubled up and now has some bubble breathing room.

Event 16: Hand For Hand Bubble Time

It's a couple minutes until dinner break but that will have to wait as our remaining 19 players are on the bubble.

There's already been two pre-flop all in battles with the shorter stacks surviving with the best hand.

Event 16: Batra Up

As it rains outside Sameer Batra (New York, NY) sits at the end of a sea of Borgata chips.  Our chipleader increases his lead thanks to two key hands against the same opponent.

In hand #1, Sameer faced a min-raise from UTG so defended his big blind with K-7 off.  Flop came down 10-9-7, all hearts.  Opponent bet 10,000 after a second 7 hit the turn. 

Then Batra couldn't believe his fortune when a King fell on the river giving him the full-house.  Opponent check-called 27,000 and tabled A-A.

In hand #2 Sameer had 4-5 diamonds in the small blind.  He flopped a five then turned trips and jammed.  Opponent tanked a bit then called with A-Q for a pair of Aces.

"When I pushed all in I knew I had him" said Sameer who felted his foe.  With those two hands Sameer soars up to 350,000 securing his lead.

Corri Pranevich (Pittsburgh, PA), at the same table noticed and commented Sameer always seems to have the nuts at showdown.

We're at Level 15 where blinds are 2000 / 4000 with 400 antes.

Low is into the chip lead with 315k, while start of day chip leader Dan Wach (Boonton, NJ) is finally getting traction and is up to 280k.

Frank Reina (Elizabeth, NJ) says he lost a big hand and is down to 220k.

Another table just broke and we're down to 81 players with an average stack of 110k (55 bb) with blinds now 1k/2k/300 ante.
