Event 9 Recap

$260 + $40 Big Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

In a field full of landmines, the final table is filled with quality players, and in the end it's two Borgata regulars who played heads up for the title.  Frank Vulpis (Old Bridge, NJ) out flopped Michael Marder (Sewell, NJ) on the final hand to take the title, the trophy and the $41,715 first place prize.

"I'm very excited to get the win," said Vulpis who flopped a Queen while holding Q J on the winning hand against Marder's K 5. "It wasn't easy. Mike's a good player I follow him on Twitter. I know he's good."

Marder agreed with the assessment. "For a $300 tournament there were a lot of good players at the final table. Pretty much everyone there knew what they were doing."

Some of the recognizable names that made the final ten included two Borgata trophy holders in David Heck (3rd) and Eric "Pools" Siegel (6th).

The day began with 689 entries to create $179,140 worth of total buy-ins. Players are now 5 for 5 in hitting guarantees at the Borgata Summer Poker Open as the $100,000 Guarantee was easily passed.

After a long day of poker it's two 26-year-olds that played a short time heads up for the title.

"I really want one of those," said Marder about the Borgata trophy. "I'll take anything, a trophy, bracelet, ring. It's okay, it'll happen."

Not only did Marder miss taking home the hardware, but the framed winner's photo from Image Masters as well.
